It is Monday again, as of this writing. And I cannot help but notice this insane pattern I am seeing from netizens these days.
Scrolling on TikTok today felt like wading through a swamp of bad takes. Not just the usual “meh” opinions, but the kind where you stop mid-scroll and think, unsa mani nga klase nga hunahuna?
It is everywhere now. Facebook, Twitter, TikTok. Someone posts something completely out of line or borderline delusional, and for a split second, you think, “This person is serious.” But then it hits me… ay! Ragebait.
I swear, it is becoming a thing now. They post something so infuriating that people cannot help but reply, argue, or share it. And the reward? More engagement, more profile views, and sometimes more money if the platform’s paying for high views. Some of these accounts do not even care about the topic. Troll ra gyud.
The annoying part? It works. The comments fill up with angry replies, stitches, duets, and the algorithm laps it all up like free candy. I can almost picture the ragebaiter sitting back, sipping coffee, thinking, “Yes, my minions… comment more.”
But here is what is concerning me lately: it is becoming a pattern. Like every day there is a fresh batch of “Are you out of your mind?” posts, and my feed feels less like social media and more like a constant anger trap. It is tiring. Murag gipuga akong energy sa kadaghan sa mga buang-buang nga takes.
I have learned to scroll past. Not always, but most of the time. The trick is to spot the bait and not bite. No comments. No shares. Just a silent scroll. Because once you react, you are part of the engagement farm.
And honestly, I have been curating my feed more aggressively now. Muting, unfollowing, hitting “Not interested” like it is my new hobby. My sanity is worth more than giving some random troll the attention they are begging for.
So, note to self: tomorrow, same strategy. Scroll with caution. Do not feed the trolls. And if I do end up in the comments section, may it be for something wholesome like cute dogs or food recipes, not another ragebait fiesta.
