Personal

I started this blog as a lost diary, now it’s a Best Cebu Blogs nominee.

Who would’ve thought nga ang akong random rants, song obsessions, poems, ug lifestyle write-ups would someday land me a nomination under Best Cebu Personal Blog?

This blog, Bonne Appetit, is an intentional pun. Of course, it’s a play on the French phrase “Bon Appétit,” but I tweaked it to match my name. I started this space on Blogger in 2012 after I lost my actual diary. Sayang kaayo kay I don’t get to re-read my old entries and hear my old self rambling. So, I turned to an online blog to continue writing about my feelings, thoughts, and rants, as well as my thoughts on newly released songs, the ones I put on repeat, movie reviews, and short poems I write in the middle of the night. It’s always been a creative outlet. A quiet corner of the internet where I can be myself, no filter.

This nomination isn’t just about “Bonne Appetit” getting recognized. It’s about honoring that younger version of me who once cried over a lost diary and promised never to lose his words again. Also, it’s about telling you—yes, you reading this—that your messy feelings deserve a home. That words are still powerful.

In the age of TikTok, Reels, and AI-generated everything, there will always be magic in words that came straight from your own heart: unfiltered and imperfect. Bahalag wrong grammar. Writing is still worth it. Feelings are still worth pouring out. Even if it’s just for you.

So, shoutout to Best Cebu Blogs Awards for the nomination! Daghang salamat for continuing to recognize Cebuano bloggers and giving us this platform to share our voices.

So to anyone holding back their emotions because the world is too loud right now—pour it out through words. You don’t need to scream. Sometimes, the softest sentences are already shouting honesty.

And to my 2012 self: na-nominate gyud ta, gang! We did it.
