January feels like it’s been dragging on forever this year.
It’s not just me, I think a lot of people feel that way. As the first month of the year, it often feels like it sets the tone for what’s to come. But this year, it feels like it’s been exceptionally long.
This month alone seems full of a lot going on, making it seem like it’s already been more than two months.
We celebrated two New Years (regular and lunar new year), celebrated Sinulog 2023, watched MLBB M4 World Championships, and followed viral trends left and right… Busy times!
Over and above all of these issues, staying motivated is challenging, knowing that it’s only the first month of the year! It’s also possible that the cold and damp weather contributes to the feeling of length, as it can be dreary and depressing when it’s usually grey and cold outside.
But I think it’s also because January is a time for reflection. We’re all coming out of the holiday season, and it can be a bit of a letdown to return to reality. We’re faced with all the things we need to get done and all the goals we want to set for the year. It can feel overwhelming, and that can make the month feel longer.
That being said, I think it’s important to focus on the positives. January is a time for new beginnings, and there’s a lot to be excited about. I’m trying to think of it as a fresh start, a chance to reset and get back on track.
In the end, I think it’s important to remember that January is just a month, and thankfully it has already passed. As we enter February, I’m positive that things will start to feel a little less long.
